OpenAI has finally launched Sora, its groundbreaking text-to-video AI model, as part of the "ship-mas" product series, sparking excitement and concern in the tech community.
Details:
ChatGPT Pro subscribers ($200/month) can generate unlimited 1080p videos up to 20 seconds, with features like watermark-free downloads and simultaneous generations. Plus subscribers get limited 720p, 5-second videos.
New features include text-to-video, image animation, video remixing, storyboards, and a community feed, all with watermarks and C2PA metadata for AI tracking.
The launch is global, except for Europe and the UK, following controversy with alpha testers over unpaid R&D work.

Google Quantum Chip Performs Century Long Tasks in Minutes
Google's quantum chip, Willow, has set a historic milestone by surpassing traditional supercomputers in processing power, advancing the quest for practical quantum computing.
Details:
Willow can complete calculations in 5 minutes that would take supercomputers 10 septillion years, a huge leap from the 2019 comparison of 3 minutes vs. 10,000 years.
The 105-qubit processor solves a key quantum challenge by reducing and correcting errors in real-time, a breakthrough not achieved since 1995.
By using qubits instead of traditional bits (which can only be 0 or 1), Willow handles multiple states at once, putting Google ahead of rivals like Microsoft, Amazon, and IBM in the quantum race.
Google aims to achieve the first "beyond-classical" computation for real-world applications, including AI, medicine, EV battery design, and clean energy.

OpenAI is expanding its Canvas feature to all ChatGPT users, moving it from premium-only availability. Announced during a holiday livestream, the update integrates chat and workspace functions in a redesigned interface.

Did you hear? OpenAI has now made its Canvas—a side-by-side digital editing workspace—available to all ChatGPT users, along with some exciting new features. Here’s a quick guide to begin:
Launch ChatGPT and select the View tool icon located right next to the Attach files option.
Want a faster way? Simply type /canvas in the chat. Once selected, it will appear highlighted in blue.
You're ready to go! The Canvas interface will open in a separate window, giving you and ChatGPT a shared space to work on projects. For example, you can directly run Python code in Canvas, making it perfect for tasks like debugging.
