Musk Threatens Apple Device Ban Over ChatGPT Integration

Elon Musk is making explosive threats against Apple over the company's newly announced integration with OpenAI's ChatGPT. The Tesla, SpaceX and xAI CEO says he will ban iPhones and other Apple devices from his companies if Apple doesn't back down from allowing ChatGPT access at the operating system level.

Musk is threatening to ban Apple devices from his businesses like Tesla and SpaceX.
Visitors would have to store their Apple devices in "Faraday cages."
This is in response to Apple integrating ChatGPT into iOS, allowing access through Siri, Photos, and writing tools.
Musk seems to misunderstand or misrepresent the integration, which Apple says is opt-in and doesn't log requests. But Musk insists "Apple has no clue what's going on once they hand your data over to OpenAI."
"Apple using the words 'protect your privacy' while handing your data over to a third-party AI is not protecting privacy at all!" he railed on X.

Mistral Scores $640M to Take On AI Giants
Mistral AI, a European startup aiming to become a powerhouse in generative AI, has raised a massive €600 million (around $640 million) in Series B funding. With this major round led by General Catalyst, the independent startup founded just over a year ago plans to rapidly scale its AI research and development efforts.

The funding round valued Mistral AI at $6 billion.
It included a mix of equity funding from top VCs like Lightspeed, Andreessen Horowitz, and Salesforce Ventures, as well as debt financing.
Founded by ex-Meta and DeepMind alumni, Mistral AI is building large language models to rival OpenAI's GPT-4, Anthropic's Claude, and others.
The startup has already released some open source models like Mistral 7B under permissive Apache 2.0 licensing. Its more advanced proprietary models, like Mistral Large, will be offered via paid APIs and products like the code assistant Codestral.
"This new round puts us in a unique position to push the frontier of AI and bring state-of-the-art technology to everyone's hands," said Mistral CEO Arthur Mensch.
