Microsoft Unveils AI That Creates Gaming Content

Gameplay example from Microsoft's Muse

Microsoft is entering AI gaming with its Muse model, developed with Ninja Theory, promising to revolutionize game creation and marking the start of Xbox's AI era.

Details:

  • Muse AI, trained on seven years of Bleeding Edge data, generates environments and reacts to player actions in real-time. It outputs at 300x180 pixels and runs at 10 FPS

  • Microsoft aims to use this tech for game preservation, enabling classic games to run on modern hardware, and explore AI-powered experiences, with demos coming soon to Copilot Labs

  • Led by Microsoft Research and Ninja Theory, the project focuses on responsible AI, enhancing creators' work without replacing them, and allowing studios flexibility in AI use

As gaming enters the AI era, Microsoft aims to create value for players and developers, sharing tools with the Xbox community to meet real needs.

Rabbit

Rabbit Finally Reveals Its Missing AI Agent

Rabbit has showcased its AI agent capabilities, but not on its flagship R1 device. Instead, it demonstrated a "generalist Android agent" controlling apps on a tablet, performing tasks initially promised for the R1.

Details:

  • The AI agent navigated Android apps on a tablet, completing tasks like finding YouTube videos, creating lists, and playing 2048, though with some limitations

  • This follows Rabbit's LAM Playground launch, with more details about their "cross-platform multi-agent system" coming soon

  • It shows promise but still has quirks, like sending WhatsApp messages line by line, indicating room for improvement

This comes as Humane AI Pin faces struggles, showcasing what the R1 should have launched with. While Rabbit updates the R1, this demo highlights the gap between promises and reality.

Microsoft

Microsoft Achieves Breakthrough With First Quantum Computing Chip

Microsoft has achieved a groundbreaking milestone in quantum computing with its first-ever chip, Majorana 1, which required creating an entirely new state of matter.

Details:

  • The chip uses eight topological qubits made from indium arsenide and aluminum, assembled atom-by-atom to create a new "topological state" of matter

  • Majorana 1, not yet on Azure, is a step toward Microsoft's goal of one million qubits, with in-house manufacturing and partnerships for research

  • The quantum market is booming, with companies like IonQ (237%) and Rigetti (1,500%) seeing major stock gains. Microsoft aims to integrate quantum tech into AI

This breakthrough places Microsoft among quantum leaders like Google and IBM, with potential to revolutionize fields like drug discovery and materials science.
