As the race for AI video generation heats up, a new challenger from China has burst onto the scene. Kuaishou, a major video platform company, has unveiled Kling - an impressive model that appears to match or even exceed some of the capabilities touted by OpenAI's highly-anticipated Sora.

  • Kling can generate stunningly realistic videos up to 2 minutes long at 1080p/30fps resolution. Demos showcase everything from a photorealistic kid eating a burger to fanciful scenes like a cat driving through city streets - all generated from text prompts.

  • Like Sora, Kling utilizes a diffusion transformer model to combine concepts and create entirely fictional imagery not seen in its training data. It also boasts advanced 3D modeling for expressive character movements and accurate physics simulation.

  • While Sora remains unreleased to the public, Kling is already available as a demo in China and gaining viral attention for its striking, near-perfect AI-rendered videos.

We’ll need to wait and see if OpenAI’s new approach brings negative consequences in the long term or if the "risks" of AI are exaggerated, and OpenAI made the right move by accelerating to maintain its lead in a highly competitive field.

  • In an email sent Wednesday, June 5th, Humane cited "quality issues with the battery" in the Charge Case and told customers to cease using it "out of an abundance of caution." The company is offering two free months of service ($48 value) as compensation.

  • This latest issue compounds the criticism the AI Pin received after its April launch. Users panned the device for bugginess, sluggish performance, overheating problems, and failing to live up to its futuristic premise.

  • With the Charge Case listed as "out of stock," Humane hasn't clarified if replacements are coming. Meanwhile, reports indicate the $1 billion valued startup is pursuing an acquisition by HP or additional funding to stay afloat.
