OpenAI has introduced Projects, a feature for ChatGPT that helps users organize files and conversations, transforming the platform into a complete workspace for Plus, Pro, and Teams subscribers.

Details:

• Create and customize project folders with unique colors and instructions, manage files and conversations, and integrate existing chats

• Available on ChatGPT's website and Windows app, with view-only on mobile and Mac. Enterprise and Edu users gain entry in January, with plans to expand to all users

• Future updates will include Google Drive and OneDrive integration, more supported file types, and switching between AI models

This move by OpenAI, along with Canvas, shows their dedication to building an all-in-one platform for efficient organization and work within the ChatGPT environment.

Ilya Sutskever Warns Current AI Methods Are Reaching Their Limits

At NeurIPS in Vancouver, Ilya Sutskever, OpenAI's ex-chief scientist and founder of Safe Superintelligence Inc., shared his AI vision, claiming "peak data" has been reached.

• Current AI training methods will become outdated as we've used up internet data, similar to finite fossil fuels. Pre-training will end, pushing the industry to explore new methods beyond pattern-matching

• Next-gen AI will be "agentic" and reason authentically, understanding concepts from limited data without confusion and being less predictable

• AI might evolve like biological evolution, akin to how hominid brains diverged from other mammals, suggesting AI could find new scaling methods beyond current pre-training

Sutskever was cautious about AIs with human-like freedoms, noting AI's unpredictable development and the potential for AIs to coexist with humans and have rights.

OpenAI Whistleblower Dies at 26 in San Francisco Home

A former OpenAI employee who criticized the company's practices was found dead in San Francisco. The 26-year-old AI researcher had raised copyright concerns weeks before his death, ruled a suicide.
