Apple Delays Rollout of More Personalized Siri Experience

Apple has delayed the launch of its highly anticipated “more personalized Siri,” introduced during last year’s Worldwide Developers Conference as part of Apple Intelligence. Designed for a smarter, context-aware experience, the upgraded Siri is set to arrive next year.
Details:
Updated Siri was promised to deliver “personal intelligence,” allowing the assistant to understand and adapt to personal context, such as relationships, routines, and communications, while also taking actions seamlessly across apps
Apple has acknowledged the delay, admitting it “will take longer than we thought to deliver.” They plan to roll out these upgrades sometime in the coming year
It comes as Apple faces criticism for falling behind in the AI space, with competitors like ChatGPT dominating the conversation while Siri struggles with outdated functionality and occasional inaccuracies
The delay may disappoint Apple fans, but the company remains committed to improving Siri. The question remains—can it catch up or fall behind in AI?

Judge Permits Authors to Proceed With AI Copyright Lawsuit Against Meta

A federal judge has allowed a copyright infringement lawsuit against Meta to proceed, accepting authors' claims that the company improperly used their books to train AI models.
Details:
Judge Vince Chhabria ruled authors have standing to sue Meta, stating copyright infringement represents "obviously a concrete injury" and that Meta may have intentionally removed copyright information to hide its activities
The lawsuit by Richard Kadrey, Sarah Silverman, and Ta-Nehisi Coates alleges Meta violated their intellectual property rights by using their books to train Llama while Meta claims its training qualifies as fair use
Judge did dismiss claims related to the California Comprehensive Computer Data and Fraud Act, as the authors failed to allege Meta accessed their computers or servers—only their written works
Court filings reveal that Mark Zuckerberg allegedly allowed the Llama team to use copyrighted materials, hinting at key insights into how tech companies handle copyright in AI development.
